Poetry – A Pantoum

This is a Pantoum poem about my son, Henry.

Be careful what you wish for

The first milestone is his first step away

With wide, bright eyes straight and true

The smile and eyes speak as one

Pride bursts your heart in two

With wide bright eyes straight and true

A movement is next, a shimmy or a shuffle

Pride bursts your heart in two

Small steps take him away from you

A movement is next, a shimmy or a shuffle

Progressing onto legs that wobble

Small steps take him away from you

The first milestone is his first step away
